this one of the most haunting films i have ever seen. it is a piece of social history that should not be relegated to a dusty shelf but should be shared with anyone interested in the ‘human condition’.
it captures the essence of a part of society that little is known about and that risks disappearing before being recognised for it’s contribution.
for this gang of men i think sympathy would be an insult, this poignant film does not add frills it simply depicts their lives and the journey home with stark honesty. More more more please

Agree with you there Jan, saw the film for first time at Irish Heritage last night. I loved both the film and the lively discussion it spawned afterwards – a thought-provoking conversation led brilliantly by Julie Cassidy Gosling and Ian Nesbitt around the around the want to address and heal trauma yet not be defined by it as a community. It gave us much food for thought.

Another screening at Spotted Dog, Warwick St, Digbeth this coming Monday 11th June at 8pm if you fancy it? Free of charge with free tea and buns. :-)
